What is a Healing Shower?

It’s a time for loved ones to gather and celebrate positive energy before an ill family member goes off to receive intensive surgery, i.e. cancer. A Healing Shower is similar to how we celebrate life’s milestones – weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and baby showers. The difference is that instead of wedding gifts and birthday presents, guests arrive prepared to help the loved one with a deed(s), such as; taking the member to regular doctor’s appointments, doing the weekly laundry, preparing the meals three-to-four times a week, and many other tasks your loved one will need during this difficult time. The Healing Shower also includes a weekly calendar, space to include notes, as well as information on Advance Health Care Directives and Power of Attorney Forms.

Among the Tony nominations, her lead role as Gretha earned a Tony nod for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical. She also received a coveted nomination for a Drama Desk Award in the category of Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical, as well as a nomination for the Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress in Outstanding Non-Resident Production. Laws, her husband, Attorney Rickey Ivie, and daughter Alexx, live in Southern California.
