Katelynn Magee and Dr. Gayle Ball-Parker

Katelynn Magee is a talented young writer with a boundless imagination and a passion for storytelling. At just 10 years old, she is already making her mark in the literary world with her debut book, Katelynn and Grandma’s Adventures in Fairyland.
Born with a love for words and a creative spirit, Katelynn has been crafting stories since she first learned to hold a pencil. Her vivid imagination knows no bounds, and she delights in bringing her characters and worlds to life on the page.
When she’s not writing, Katelynn can be found exploring the great outdoors by exploring all of California’s state parks, playing baseball with her little brother, dreaming up new stories, or curled up with a good book. With a bright future ahead of her, Katelynn is just getting started on her journey as a storyteller, and the world can’t wait to see what she’ll create next. Katelynn lives with her little brother and mom and dad in Long Beach, California.

Dr. Gayle Ball- Parker
First and foremost, Dr. Gayle Ball-Parker is a child of God and loves the Lord Jesus Christ. She is a passionate advocate for education and community empowerment. With a background in higher education administration, Dr. Gayle Ball-Parker has held roles such as Director of the Educational Opportunity Program at CSU Dominguez Hills. Currently, she directs the Presidential Scholars Program at the same institution.

Dr. Ball-Parker is involved in her community, holding memberships in several organizations and serving on boards. She is a member of The Los Angeles South Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and The Harbor Area Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Dr. Ball-Parker is passionate about addressing health inequities in underserved communities.

In June 2024, Dr. Ball-Parker will release a children’s book co-authored with her ten-year-old granddaughter. She is married to Long Beach community activist Erroll Parker and is a proud parent of five children and twelve grandchildren.

Dr. Gayle Ball-Parker holds a BA in Psychology from CSU Dominguez Hills, an MS in Community-Clinical Psychology from CSU Long Beach, and a Doctorate in Technology with an emphasis in Education from Pepperdine University. Dr. Gayle Ball-Parker is guided by her mission statement: “She always wants to leave the landscape better than she found it.”
