Living by Faith, A Journey of Love & Encouragement is a Collection of Poetry. In May 2011, author Mary E. Darby, underwent major spinal surgery due to a rare condition called basilar invagination. Subsequent complications required her to undergo two additional, intricate surgeries and, as a result, she was left paralyzed. Due to her strong faith in God, she is recovering beautifully and has learned to walk again. All of the poems were written throughout the author’s own life journey of joyful experiences, difficult challenges, and divine interventions.

 

About the Author

Mary E. Darby was born in Chester, South Carolina, the eldest of nine children. She grew up in Washington D.C. and moved to Los Angeles, California, as a young adult. For more than 30 years, Mary taught elementary school, while raising her two daughters, Sylvia and Nicole, and grandson, Brandon. Mary has been writing poetry as long as she can remember. 

Her poetic motivation is to express her emotions and to inspire others through the journey of life. Mary’s work touches a universal cord due to her depth of faith and a real understanding of the human condition. Living by Faith, A Journey of Love & Encouragement is her first book of poetry.
