About the Author

 

Renee P. Aldrich has been privileged to serve in various roles over the past 20-plus years. She’s the founder and director of Softer Side Seminars, an empowerment and self-esteem-building program for women and girls. An award-winning writer, she is a published author of a companion book to Softer Side Seminars, Notes from the Softer Side, and has a freelance writing business, “Writing the Write Word.” She writes for the New Pittsburgh Courier and the Soul Pitt Quarterly. She is a frequent contributor to the University of Pittsburgh Publications, the Pitt Chronicle, and Pitt Alumni Magazine, among others. She has been named a New Pittsburgh Courier, Woman of Excellence, and was the first prize winner for Creative Non-Fiction at Carlow University Creative Writing Department. She is a Pittsburgh Black Media Federation member, a commissioned poet, and a prose writer. Ms. Aldrich has found that the most important role she has held dear is mother to two adult children, Elliott Lawrence of Long Beach, California, and Karen Aldrich of Pittsburg, and grandmother to six–year old Karon Joshua Wingate. Jaylon, and resides in Valencia, California.
