TIME SERVED

If you have ever wondered what happens in prison, then Time Served is for you. T.L. Cromwell has written an in-depth memoir from a correctional officer’s perspective. The incarcerated population has written many books, but only a few have been written by prison staff. Cromwell, an African American, shares her truth about 21+ years of Time Served in prison. She lifts the veil on prison life. Her book humanizes women doing a dangerous job, caring for their families, and hoping to make it out alive. Cromwell worked for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in two of the toughest male-only prisons, starting as a Correctional Officer and retiring as a Correctional Captain. She shares her experience working in an environment that was often mundane, mixed with incidents of extreme violence and terror.

About the Author

T.L. Cromwell is a retired Correctional Captain who worked in the California prison system for 21+ years, walking the “Toughest Beat in the State.” Cromwell retired in 2015 and relocated to Texas to spend time with her beloved daughter and family. Reading, writing, traveling the world, and spending time with her family are what she enjoys most. She has an extensive bucket list and is checking it off, one item at a time. Cromwell is currently working on her next book, a follow-up to Time Served.
